Max Reger (1873-1916) was a German composer, pianist, organist, conductor and teacher. He was musical director of the Leipzig University Church, a professor at the Royal Conservatory in Leipzig, and music director at the court of Duke Georg II of Saxe-Meiningen. His compositions are mainly Lieder, chamber music, and works for piano and organ. These three songs, originally for female chorus, create three different moods. The first is stately and a little sombre, the second is calm and flowing, and the third is light and joyful. With relatively easy notes and rhythms, a delightful set of pieces for the beginner flute choir.
